About this printable

This page features a collection of six common geometric shapes, including an arrow, plus sign, trapezoid, diamond, teardrop, and chevron. Each shape is outlined with a dashed line and marked with a black dot at a starting point, making them easy for little hands to follow. The simple, open designs are perfect for preschoolers and kindergarteners learning to control their pencils.

Use this printable to help children develop their fine motor control and shape recognition skills. It's ideal for quiet time activities, morning work, or as a fun addition to a lesson on shapes. Children can trace the dashed lines with a crayon or pencil, and then color in the shapes once they've completed the tracing activity.

Questions about this printable

Is there a catch with this free download? ▾

None. There is no signup wall and no trial: the page you print is the page you see, without a watermark. Ads around the page are what keep it free.

What paper size does it print on? ▾

The file is laid out for US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) and prints just as cleanly on A4 — turn on "Fit to page" in your print dialog and it scales to about 97%, which nobody can see by eye.

Can I print it more than once? ▾

As many times as you like. Plain copy paper is all it needs. If you use the same sheet daily, slip it into a plastic wallet and write on it with a dry-wipe marker — one printed page then lasts weeks.

Can I use it in my classroom? ▾

Yes. Teachers, homeschool parents, childminders and libraries may print unlimited copies for their own children at no cost and with no permission needed. The only thing you may not do is sell it, sell prints of it, or pass the file itself around — share a link to this page instead.

Is there more like this? ▾

This page is part of 41 Free Shape Tracing and Coloring Pages, which has 41 printables in it. You can take them one at a time, or use the "Download all" button on the set's page to get every page in one go.

Can I change it? ▾

This one is a true vector PDF — every line is a shape and the text is still live text, so it opens in Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity or Canva and can be edited. That is for your own use: the licence does not allow reselling it, edited or not.
